All About CBDWhat is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is one of the major active ingredients in cannabis. CBD is derived directly from hemp, a cousin of the marijuana plant. Unlike its more famous counterpart THC, CBD by itself does not cause a "high." CBD is most commonly used to address anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. What is full spectrum CBD? Full spectrum CBD contains all the cannabinoids that are naturally occurring in the plant. It also contains plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and plant proteins, all naturally occurring in the original hemp source. All of these compounds work together to maximize the potential health benefits through what is known as the entourage effect. What is the entourage effect? The entourage effect occurs when CBD is ingested along with other natural compounds from the hemp plant. The theory is that when CBD and the naturally existing compounds from the plant (plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and proteins) are taken together, the health benefits are increased. What is broad spectrum CBD? Broad spectrum CBD is essentially full spectrum CBD that has been further processed to remove trace amounts of THC. Like full spectrum CBD, broad spectrum CBD also contains plant terpenes, flavonoids, vitamins, minerals, and proteins, and therefore displays the entourage effect to maximize potential health benefits. What is CBD isolate? CBD isolate is created by removing all other molecules except CBD from the naturally harvested full spectrum CBD. The result is 99% pure CBD and 0.0% THC.
